Work began in Tindouf, located on one of the roughest deserts in the world, it was not easy. Only the basic apparatus to set up the laboratory to make these ocular prosthesis weighed over 250 Kg. Since that spring in the year 2.000, the laboratory has been displaced three times. Our first working space was set up behind the reception hall of the camps at Rabouni, where the headquarters of the saharaui are located.  The second location was in the Rabouni, in the general hospital, around 400m from the first settlement. Four years later and since 2.005 our laboratory is in the Mine and War Victims Center. The Center is located 12 km from Rabouni, in the middle of nowhere.

Depending on the time of the year, the Mines and War Victims Center hosts between 100 and 200 saharauis with all sorts of handicaps. Resources available for the Center are scarce, or even non-existing, but the managers have an immensely powerful will helping out those who they look after, with a strong faith in improving the rest of their life.

As of today, our clinic has treated over 200 saharaui people. This number may seem small, but what we are most proud of is the exceptional quality of our work done in the desert.
