The evisceration or enucleation technique is so important to be done by skilful hands, to obtain the best results minimising complications, and getting the best results. Some times is necessary the exchange of an atrophic globe by a much bigger artificial sphere, or replace a small sphere by a bigger one, to avoid the enophthalmos deformity.
With certain frequency enucleated or eviscerated patients suffer rejection of the implant, not always immediately after surgery, but ,even, some years latter. In those cases it will appear a wound in the conjunctiva, where the implant can be seen. In some cases, like in the picture, when the implant has not been infected, we perform an auto dermis fat grafting technique, with 75% of good results.
